Trance: A Poem

There are very few things that I find more beautiful than fire.

I am overcome with an integrated sense of warmth as I watch the fragile embers of the candle wither and fall to the foil.

A thin, wavering rim of violet surrounds the amber flame while it wafts and waves,

seemingly postponing time and all of the current obligations of our universe.

“I could sit here forever,” I think. Basking in the light of my bottled disposition.

Then I remember that the seconds keep on ticking.

I’m merely a blip on the screen of life’s continual evolution.

There are very few things that I find more beautiful than fire.
